Axis EDGE Miles Complete Guide 2026: Earn, Transfer, Redeem
Axis Bank’s EDGE Miles program is one of the most versatile frequent flyer currencies available through an Indian credit card issuer. With 25+ transfer partners, a 1:1 transfer ratio to major programs like KrisFlyer, and the ability to accumulate significant miles through monthly milestones on the Magnus card, EDGE Miles deserve serious attention from any Indian travel rewards enthusiast.
Here’s a comprehensive guide to earning, managing, and redeeming Axis EDGE Miles.
Which Cards Earn EDGE Miles?
Not all Axis Bank credit cards earn EDGE Miles. The two primary cards that earn EDGE Miles (as opposed to regular Axis Edge Points or cash rewards) are:
Axis Magnus Credit Card: The flagship EDGE Miles earner. Earns 12 EDGE Miles per ₹200 on regular spend, plus 20,000 bonus EDGE Miles on monthly milestone (₹1.5L spend). Annual fee ₹10,000.
Axis Atlas Credit Card: A dedicated travel card earning EDGE Miles at tiered rates based on spend categories. Generally earns at a lower base rate than Magnus but with a lower annual fee (₹5,000). Good entry point into EDGE Miles.
Note: Axis EDGE Points (earned on other Axis cards like Ace, MY Zone, etc.) are different from EDGE Miles. EDGE Points have limited transfer utility. This guide covers EDGE Miles specifically.
Earning EDGE Miles
On Magnus
Base earn: 12 EDGE Miles per ₹200 = 6 EDGE Miles per ₹100
Monthly milestone: Spend ₹1,50,000 in a calendar month → earn 20,000 bonus EDGE Miles
Enhanced categories (current rates as per benefit schedule):
- Dining: 6X (72 EDGE Miles per ₹200)
- Overseas transactions: Enhanced rate — check current terms
Annual potential at ₹1.5L/month milestone:
- 12 months × 20,000 milestone bonus = 240,000 EDGE Miles
- 12 months × ₹1.5L × 6 miles/₹100 = 108,000 EDGE Miles base earn
- Total: 348,000 EDGE Miles/year (before 6X dining enhancement)
At 1:1 KrisFlyer transfer, that’s 348,000 KrisFlyer miles — enough for 3 business class returns from Delhi to Singapore (at ~100,000 miles each in Saver awards), with miles to spare.
On Atlas
The Axis Atlas card earns at tiered rates based on annual spend:
- Base tier: Lower earn rate
- Silver tier (₹7.5L+ annual spend): 4 EDGE Miles per ₹100
- Gold tier (₹15L+ annual spend): 6 EDGE Miles per ₹100
Atlas is better suited for travellers who want EDGE Miles access without the Magnus’s higher spend requirements but are willing to sacrifice the milestone bonus.
EDGE Miles Transfer Partners
This is where Axis’s program stands out in the Indian market. Transfer ratio is 1 EDGE Mile = 1 Partner Mile/Point for most airline programs:
Airline Partners (1:1 ratio):
- Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer
- Air India Flying Returns
- British Airways Executive Club (Avios)
- Etihad Guest
- Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles
- Korean Air SKYPASS
- Thai Airways Royal Orchid Plus
- Air France–KLM Flying Blue
- Lufthansa Miles & More
- And others (25+ total)
Hotel Partners:
- Marriott Bonvoy (3 EDGE Miles = 1 Bonvoy Point)
- Accor Live Limitless (1:1)
The 1:1 KrisFlyer transfer ratio is Axis’s key competitive advantage over HDFC (which transfers at 2:1). If you’re accumulating points specifically to transfer to Singapore Airlines, the Axis Magnus generates twice as many KrisFlyer miles per rupee spent compared to HDFC Infinia.
Minimum transfer amount: Typically 1,000 EDGE Miles per transfer request Processing time: 3–10 business days after request
EDGE Travel Portal Redemption
Alternatively, EDGE Miles can be redeemed directly on the Axis EDGE Travel portal for flights and hotels at:
5 EDGE Miles = ₹1 on the portal
At this rate, 100,000 EDGE Miles = ₹20,000 in travel portal credits. This is a useful redemption for straightforward travel booking — it gives you flexibility without the complexity of airline award programs.
However, the portal redemption rate (₹0.20/mile) is significantly lower than the value achievable through airline transfers for business class redemptions (where effective value can reach ₹1–3/mile). Always evaluate portal vs transfer before redeeming.
EDGE Miles Expiry Rules
EDGE Miles expire 3 years from the date of earning.
This is consistent with HDFC’s RP expiry policy. Points earned in June 2023 expire in June 2026.
To extend EDGE Miles life:
- Transfer to an airline program before expiry (then that program’s own rules apply — KrisFlyer extends with any account activity)
- Any EDGE Miles earn activity does not reset the expiry clock on older miles — each batch has its own expiry date
- Monitor through Axis Bank netbanking or the Axis rewards section online
Best EDGE Miles Redemptions
1. Singapore Airlines Business Class (KrisFlyer transfer)
- Delhi to Singapore (SIN) Business Class Saver: 48,000 miles one-way
- Delhi–SIN–London (LHR) Business Class Saver return: ~100,000–115,000 miles
- Cash equivalent: ₹1.5–5L+ per booking
- Effective EDGE value: ₹1.5–3 per mile depending on route
- Best use of EDGE Miles
2. British Airways Avios (Avios transfer)
- Short-haul partner redemptions can be highly efficient with Avios
- Intra-India or short-haul Southeast Asia on Avios + partner carriers
- The British Airways distance-based pricing benefits short routes
3. Accor Hotel Stays (1:1 transfer)
- Novotel, Pullman, Fairmont properties in India
- Good for 1–2 night stays where Accor property prices match or beat Bonvoy value
4. EDGE Travel Portal (5 miles = ₹1)
- Best for: When you have orphan miles, want flexibility, or the award calendar is blocked
- Not ideal for primary redemption strategy
5. Marriott Bonvoy (3:1 transfer)
- At 3:1, Bonvoy transfer is the weakest option in the EDGE portfolio
- Only consider if you have a specific Bonvoy redemption in mind that you can’t access otherwise
Practical Strategy for Magnus Cardholders
Month 1–6 of accumulation:
- Hit the ₹1.5L monthly milestone every month
- Accumulate EDGE Miles in your account — don’t rush to transfer until you have enough for a specific redemption
Research before you transfer:
- Identify your target redemption before converting miles. KrisFlyer business class awards have specific availability — check award seats before transferring.
- Transfers are generally one-way and non-reversible
Keep a buffer:
- Don’t transfer all miles at once. Keep 20,000–30,000 EDGE Miles in your account for flexibility or as a reserve for the portal if award availability doesn’t work out.
Track the program:
- Axis EDGE Miles transfers and rates are occasionally updated. Subscribe to Axis Bank card communications and check platforms like Technofino for program change announcements.
